The Sydney Basin Koala Network (SBKN) has been established by the Total Environment Centre and WIRES. Our aim is to protect and expand connected, thriving Koala core habitats and corridors across the Sydney Basin.

To achieve this ambitious aim we want to pull together everyone already doing incredible work to protect koalas in the region and engage many more. Creating a cohesive network of local environment groups and citizen scientists will amplify our voices on koala issues to key decision makers.

Through scientific consultation and Citizen Science programs we will Identify key koala habitat that should be preserved for growing koala populations and produce cutting edge scientific and legal proposals.

Through the network we strive to support local groups already involved in protecting koalas and increase the general public knowledge of Sydney Basin Koalas and key threats.

Our values are:

  • Collaborative
  • Supportive
  • Ambitious
  • Objective
